Ok. No monkeying around here.  There is a very good reason why I have chosen to have at least 3-4 bananas a week, either in my smoothies to make them thick and rich, or sliced on top of my Chocolate Hemp Crepes. Studies have shown that bananas can combat depression, can protect against kidney cancer, diabetes and osteoporosis.  Rich in pectin, bananas aid digestion and gently chelate toxins and heavy metals from the body.

Bananas act as a prebiotic, stimulating the growth of friendly bacteria in the bowel. They also produce digestive enzymes to assist in absorbing nutrients. Bananas help restore lost electrolytes, are a natural antacid, providing relief from acid reflux and heartburn. Constipated? Yup. High fiber in bananas can help with that too. The list goes on and on.

So go ahead and indulge in your yummy yellow goodness.
